Course Introduction
This course examines the causes, background, progression, outcomes, and impact of the Korean War. It also explores the nature of the war and its significance in contemporary history. The course aims to foster an understanding that the Korean War had the character of an international civil war and ultimately intensified the Cold War due to competing national interests of the countries involved.
Learning Objectives
1. Students will be able to explain that the Korean War had the character of an international civil war.
2. Students will be able to state in detail that the war unfolded in five phases and describe the specific characteristics of each phase.
3. Students will be able to explain in detail the causes, course of events, and results of the Korean War.
4. Students will be able to explain in detail the domestic and international impacts of the war.
